Katrina Walker is a designer, educator and author known for her expertise in construction techniques, textiles, machine embroidery, and Modern American Pojagi piecework. Her work is regularly featured in many magazines including Threads, Creative Machine Embroidery, SewStylish, Stitch, SewNews, and SewItAll. She is a popular instructor both at national sewing shows and online, where her classes for Craftsy, Taunton Workshops, BurdaStyle, and Craft Daily have enrolled thousands of students worldwide. She is a Brand Ambassador for PFAFF sewing machines and a Sulky Sewcialite, and when not sharing the love of sewing, she is raising her own natural colored wool for her Spoiled Sheep yarn (spoiledsheep.com). The Wonderful World of Wool

All about wool – from flock to fashion! Gain a new appreciation for this fabulous fiber. This lecture/demo features a trunk show of wool fashions, showcasing many beautiful and interesting techniques for sewing with wool.

 Silk: Nature’s Wonder Fiber

Silk is truly an amazing natural fiber. Learn more than you ever dreamed about all aspects of silk – from raising silk caterpillars to working with this luscious natural fiber. Gain a valuable understanding of the subtleties of working with a wide variety of silk fabrics. Enjoy hands-on samples of rare silks, and a trunk show of gorgeous silk fashions.

Afternoon – Hands-on Sewing Class:

Sewing with Specialty Fabrics

The secret to sewing beautiful garments and home décor? Beautiful fabric! Learn a variety of specialty handling, seaming, finishing, and hemming techniques that make sewing with even the most exquisite fabrics a pleasure. Suitable for novices and experts alike – these techniques, both time-tested and new – produce couture quality results every time. Participants will build a valuable reference book full of sewn samples complete with written instructions.  Kit fee: $25

Day Two: Sew Like A Designer

Morning – Lecture/Demo:

Cotton Chic

The secret to making chic clothes – from quilting cotton! Quilting cottons provide us with a virtually unlimited array of gorgeous prints – but too often they fail to translate well into clothing. Learn how to interpret cotton broadcloth prints into chic, FLATTERING garments that have unmistakable style.

I Must…I Must…I Must Increase My Bust (and other fitting challenges…)

The number one obstacle to sewing garments? It’s not sewing – it’s FIT. No matter your size and shape, we all must learn to fit ourselves. In this entertaining – and enlightening! – presentation Palmer/Pletsch Certified Fit Instructor Katrina Walker will shed new light on this very old challenge. These pattern alteration methods WORK – and they have been refined over 40+ years of Palmer/Pletsch fit classes conducted on real bodies around the world.

Sew Like A Designer!

Say bye-bye to boring and sew yourself something truly fabulous using divine designer details. Learn how to create runway looks that look spectacular but are simple to create. Add more art to your wearables. This class features a variety of gorgeous specialty seaming techniques that can be used to create garments, home décor, and even artistic piecework. Enjoy a trunk show of beautiful designer samples as you sew. Suitable for all levels of sewing ability – if you can sew a seam, you can learn how to make that seam spectacular! A not-to-miss opportunity to learn from the host of Bluprint (Craftsy)’s popular class, Decorative Seams. Participants will build a valuable reference book full of sewn samples complete with written instructions.  Kit Fee: $25
